Top 5 speaking venues to share your expertise with the higher ed community

It’s “submit-your-proposal” season in higher ed with a few call for proposals recently launched or closing soon.

If you’ve never presented at a conference, why not try this year?

It would be nice to see new faces (nothing wrong with the regulars, of course) and hear new perspectives.

I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 speaking venues you should consider along with a few details (deadline, direct link to call for proposal online forms, etc.)

  1. eduWeb Conference – Chicago, IL (July 26-28, 2010)
    Deadline: March 19, 2010
You can submit a proposal for 4 different tracks via an online form.
  2. Canadian Post-Secondary Web Conference – Brock University, ON (May 26-28, 2010)
Deadline: I can’t find a deadline on the website, but don’t delay too much: it’s in May.
You can submit a proposal for a presentation or a workshop via an online form.
  3. High Ed Web Conference – Cincinnati, OH (October 10-13, 2010)
Deadline: I can’t find a deadline on the website – maybe it’s a new trend ;-) April 1st, 2010 (no kidding – thanks to Colleen who let us know by posting a comment)
You can submit a proposal for a presentation, a workshop or a poster session via an online form.
  4. 2010 Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education – San Diego , CA (Nov 7-10, 2010)
    Deadline: April 9, 2010
You can submit a written or a video proposal for a presentation/paper via an online form.
  5. Higher Ed Experts Webinars – online all year long.
    Deadline: on-going

  1. Hi Karine! Thanks for including us on your list :)

Do you think you’ll be proposing a session? I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard you speak!

  2. Todd says:

    Dear AMA,

Your deadline proposal is 7 months before your conference. Yet your call for papers reads:

“…discuss cutting edge approaches, new tools and technologies and the hottest trends on the forefront of Higher Education Marketing.”

If you’d like to discuss “cutting edge” and “new tools and technology and the hottest trends” please schedule panel discussions, NOT dated presentations.

    Thanks.

  3. I hope folks will be submitting proposals for HighEdWeb 2010 — it’s a great conference, due in no small part to the strong presentations shared by higher ed Web pros like you. Take a look at http://2010.highedweb.org/proposals/ for more details.

    Deadlines for proposals are:
    • Conference Presentations (45-minute conference sessions): due Apr. 1
    • Poster Presentations: due Spring 2010

    See you in Cincinnati!

Melissa, first, I need to make sure I can come… Flying isn’t an option, so I probably need to find some folks willing to share the 7-hour ride.
Last time you got a chance to listen to one of my presentations, you had to leave early – I believe :-)

Todd, Mr. tsand, you got a very good point – as usual. But, you got to give them points to accept proposals via video, don’t you think?

Colleen, thanks for providing the deadline – I could not find it on the website. I’ve updated the post to include it.

  5. Mike Klein says:

Many thanks for this great resource. You just saved me at least an hour of searching! :)

  6. Karine Joly says:

    You’re welcome, Mike
