Introducing collegewebeditor.com’s Higher Ed Conference and Events Calendar

February 4th, 2008 Karine Joly 5 Comments

As regular readers know, I design and schedule several webinar series per year for Higher Ed Experts.

Since it doesn’t make sense to have a series at the same time of a big conference, I keep track of some of the main events held throughout the year by different organizations and associations. And, I do that in a nifty Google Calendar.

This weekend, while I was updating this calendar of higher ed conferences and events, I realized that it would be a great tool for the community at large.

I’m updating it anyway, so why not share it with everybody, right?

That’s why you can now find the new “Event Calendar” tab on this blog.

You can also access the calendar page directly (let’s say if you’re reading this in your RSS reader).

Last, if you’d like me to add relevant events or conferences to this calendar, just send me a quick note at karine@collegewebeditor.com I’m sure we can make it a useful resource for everybody.

    Karine:

It looks like a permission setting needs changed on the Google Calendar. When I go to the tab, I see this:

“Events from one or more calendars could not be shown here because you do not have the permission to view them.”

Thanks, Seth. I think I’ve fixed it now.

    Hello Karine,

How did you manage to fix the permissions issue with google calendar? I have been making a website for Henderson State University, a wiki actually, and after i embedded the google calendar, I got the same message that Seth got. When I log in to google and then navigate back the calendar works fine, but this isn’t really useful to anyone this way.

I would appreciate any help you could offer!

    Thanks.

    Hi Chester,

I sent you an email, but figured out somebody else might have the same question. So, I’m posting my reply here as well.

Here’s what you need to do.

Google Calendar>Settings>Calendars>Share This Calendar>Make This Calendar Public.

    That’s it.
