Today, I’m celebrating a big anniversary (what can I tell you, I’m just another vain blogger ;-) as collegewebeditor.com turns 4 years old.
Yep. 4 years. What a journey since my first post written on WordPress 1.2!
The blog has now more than 1,400 RSS subscribers, 600 or so newsletter readers, around 10,000 monthly visitors – depending on the months – and definitely a life of its own.
So, thank you all for browsing, reading, bookmarking and forwarding my posts.
As you can see, I decided to throw in a fresh new look to celebrate this milestone (and if you’re reading this on your favorite RSS reader, I even took the time to include before/after screenshots) — if you’ve been sticking around enough, you know that this new theme is the 3rd one for collegewebeditor.com.

I know there are still some quirks here and there, so please consider this new version a work in progress.
And, if you can spare 2 minutes, why don’t you tell us when you started reading this blog and how you found out about it?
Congratulations on four years of consistent blogging, Karine. Your site is one of the pillars in the higher ed social mediasphere.
Here’s to four more years.
Thanks, Andy!
Looking forward to your 4-year blog birthday in November.
Happy Birthday! There is just so much awesome stuff on this site I don’t know after four years how you keep the fire going to keep it up.
So as the song ends… “…and many more!”
Love the updated look, crisp and clean! I started reading a year ago, when I went from 17 years in corporate and association design to higher ed design. It’s been a very helpful resource!
As far as I can tell I started reading in Oct or Nov 2005. I don’t remember exactly how I first heard about CollegeWebEditor, but I’m thinking it must have been at HighEdWeb. Haven’t missed a post since. Congrats on 4 years.
Thanks, Kyle – you guys at eduGuru keep me in check with your great contributions :-)
Christy, I’m glad you found it helpful in your transition to the wonderful world of higher education.
Stewart, wow, you’ve been around for that long – I didn’t know. Thanks for sharing the info.
Happy Birthday!!!
I found “Collegewebeditor” about 8 months ago, and it has been a great help on my transition from ten years of outside “Higher Education” world to the in and outs of working for a University.
On those dark and cold moments, it is good to know you are not alone :)
Thanks for the great work guys!!!
Happy 4th, Karine! Keep it up — can’t wait to see where the next 4 years go.
Happy Birthday!!! Hard to believe it’s been a year since 3rd anniversary + 500 posts. Keep ’em coming!
Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday!
PS – time to get a Gravatar.com ;) You too, @andrewcareaga!
Thanks DW, Brad and Todd (but you’ll be tsand for every for me)
Even got the gravatar set up, Brad. Thanks for the prompt!
Congratulations Karine. A great resource.
I think I stumbled across it at least two years ago when doing a search for something or other and have been reading it ever since. I’m in Australia, but it’s still mostly relevant for me. Happy blogiversary!
and besides 4 years of blogging, higheredexperts.com too!
félicitations
[…] With 4 years of higher ed blogging under my belt, I know how demanding (and most of the time financially little rewarding) it can be to maintain a great edu blog. That’s one of the reasons I came up with the “Edu Blogger Scholarship Contest” idea when I was contacted (and hired) by the folks from Online College to help them create some online buzz around their new website about online education.
