NJ HigherEd Webmasters Association: new executive committee, website and by-laws
December 6th, 2005 by Karine Joly
If you’re a regular, you might remember that I posted a couple of times about this initiative in New Jersey.
The NJ Higher Ed Webmaster Association is now a reality with by-laws, an elected executive committee and a new website.
Initiated by Tryon Eggleston of Bloomfield College (now working as a Web Specialist at Drew University) and Stephen Schur of Ramapo College a few months ago, the association was officially created last Wednesday at a meeting held at Drew.
The 16 members in attendance adopted the association’s by-laws and elected the following executive committee:
- President: Stephen Schur (Ramapo College)
- Vice President: Cindy Meneghin (Monclair University)
- Secretary: Tryon Eggleston (Drew University)
- Treasurer: Matthew Winkel (TCNJ)
A website with a dedicated web address: www.njhewa.org has already been set up.
You can find more information about this association “open to New Jersey’s public, private, and community colleges and universities. The purpose [of which] is to provide avenues for sharing concerns, visions, standards and policies, strategies, new technologies, NJ state and federal regulations, and training opportunities related to higher education Webmasters.”
The next meeting of the association is scheduled in February at New Jersey City University, while the annual conference will be held in April.
I’ll make sure to keep you posted about this initiative. And, again, if you know about any similar initiative in other States, please send me an email at karine@collegewebeditor.com, so I can post about it.
