Podcasting, s’il vous plait: iPods video speak French

Ok, I play a bit with the title of this post, but I couldn’t resist :-)

In the survey I did at the end of last year, some of you requested that I write more about initiatives outside of the US, so let’s go to Europe.

According to “Apple Loves France, Sometimes,” an article published a few days ago in Business Week, MBA students at the prestigious French business school, HEC, are about to walk — in style — into the steps of Duke University’s freshmen who received brand new iPods courtesy of their university in 2004.

Why “in style” are you wondering? Because these MBA students will get brand new iPods… video!

“Starting with the MBA class entering HEC next fall, every student will be given a video iPod engraved with the school’s logo on the back. About half of all lectures will be captured in digital video and saved in massive network servers, where students will be able to review them, in the form of video podcasts, as little as an hour later. The iPods also will be stuffed with a wealth of useful tools and information, such as campus maps, class schedules, RSS feeds of news stories, and language training courses.”

I know, I know that’s not exactly the first time an institution gives away iPods Video: Drexel did it a few months ago. However, it looks like a first in Europe.
