In July 2008 I spent a long holiday weekend setting up a free job board for the higher ed web community. There was a real need for a job board reserved to digital jobs in higher education.
It has always been free to post higher ed jobs – the only kind of jobs that made (and will make) it there – since the beginning.
A useful tool in need of a better platform
For the past 5 years hundreds of jobs have been posted on this job board. And, I would like to think that this website helped some of you find a new job or a new hire (feel free to tell us in the comment if it did :-).
But, I knew it had some big shortcomings:
- Over the past few months, several of you mentioned some issues with bots spamming the online application forms.
- There was also no way to retire a given job ad – except emailing me so I can do it for you :-)
So, this summer I spent some of the time I don’t really have to research and find a more practical and easier-to-maintain application to support this Job Board.
It’s not perfect but it addresses the 2 top complaints from the community.
