In higher education, summer is a bit like the Holidays season:
‘Tis the time to receive your professional development gifts (a trip to a 2- or 3-day conference) and… gift cards (well, the professional development budget your team will get for the upcoming year).
Well, consider that Christmas (or any other holidays you celebrate in December) is early this year, as Higher Ed Experts, the professional development company I run, will help two of you attend the great HighEdWeb Arkansas Conference (July 21-22, 2011) in Little Rock, AR with a $260 scholarship to cover hotel and conference fees.
Launched last year by Shelley Keith (who has been working for the national heweb conference for quite some time) and friends, this regional conference has a fantastic program this year including:
- Building your minion infrastructure: Training content contributors to help, not hinder (workshop)
- Google Analytics: Measuring a marketing campaign’s success (workshop)
- Chaos in Context: Informed Design Through Analytics
- Once Upon a Semester: Storytelling as a framework for Higher Ed web marketing (keynote by Georgy Cohen)
- Mobile First, Desktop Second
- Making it work more better: A Bag of Tricks from a College Web Guy
Anyway, this conference is definitely a good pick as it also includes some fun and social activities.
HighEdWeb Arkansas Attendees will even be able to win a $350 free pass for a future webinar series by Higher Ed Experts.
So, how do can you get a chance to win one of the 2 scholarships worth $260 each?
- First, you have to work for an institution (university, college, school)
- Second, you have to go to the conference as the scholarship checks will be handed to the winners at the conference (sorry, won’t be able to use this money for your next weekend at the beach ;-)
- Last, post a 2-sentence comment (my version of the scholarship essay ;-) by
June 7June 10, 2011 to explain why you want to attend and should get the scholarship.
Winners will be notified via email and I’ll post an update at the top of this post on June 13, 2011.
One more thing: people already registered can also participate.
Register for the Master Class on social media analytics in higher ed presented by Stephane Hamel, analytics instructor at UBC and University of Laval (June 21st, 2011).
