Top 2012 #highered Web and Social Media Conferences

January 23, 2012 |  by  |  Conferences, Higher Ed Experts

You might not know it, but I maintain a Google calendar of higher ed events and conferences where I keep track of anything interesting for web and marketing teams working in universities and colleges.

It’s a useful tool, but here’s a selection (in chronological order) of the most interesting events with deadlines for registration, call for proposals and other interesting information like registration fees.

  1. NERCOMP Annual Conference isn’t on your top 10, but it is on mine. Hooray for nerdcamp! http://www.educause.edu/NC12

  2. A few conferences for those who are less into the web side of things and more interested in overall marketing, communications and branding in higher ed:

    Stamats Integrated Marketing Communications Conference
    Chicago, July 9-11

  5. Our university’s website isn’t in my portfolio of responsibilities – I am responsible for public relations, but I am in Las Vegas for InfoComm at the same time the UB Tech conference is going on. Would it be worth the $700 conference fee for me to attend? I guess I’m wondering if it would be worth for me to attend or so technically-oriented that I’d be in over my head!

  6. Is anyone paying attention to #sxswedu, yet? http://sxswedu.com/

  7. Great resource – thanks Karine! I’ve marked my calendar!

  8. Thanks Paul and Talmadge for the suggestions.

Julie, I would say that if you attend InfoComm it means you are probably interested in technology solutions, so you should be at ease at UB Tech. With the early bird price offered by UB Teach and the special rate for the hotel, it could make sense, but I guess the best thing you can do is have a look at the program and see if you find topics that will talk to you.

  9. Thanks Karine and everyone for advice and additional resources! Great to know the breadth of what’s available.
