Get a chance to win one of the 2 scholarships for #highered Web Arkansas Conference in July

In higher education, summer is a bit like the Holidays season:

‘Tis the time to receive your professional development gifts (a trip to a 2- or 3-day conference) and… gift cards (well, the professional development budget your team will get for the upcoming year).

Well, consider that Christmas (or any other holidays you celebrate in December) is early this year, as Higher Ed Experts, the professional development company I run, will help two of you attend the great HighEdWeb Arkansas Conference (July 21-22, 2011) in Little Rock, AR with a $260 scholarship to cover hotel and conference fees.

Launched last year by Shelley Keith (who has been working for the national heweb conference for quite some time) and friends, this regional conference has a fantastic program this year including:

Anyway, this conference is definitely a good pick as it also includes some fun and social activities.

HighEdWeb Arkansas Attendees will even be able to win a $350 free pass for a future webinar series by Higher Ed Experts.

So, how do can you get a chance to win one of the 2 scholarships worth $260 each?

  • First, you have to work for an institution (university, college, school)
  • Second, you have to go to the conference as the scholarship checks will be handed to the winners at the conference (sorry, won’t be able to use this money for your next weekend at the beach ;-)
  • Last, post a 2-sentence comment (my version of the scholarship essay ;-) by June 7 June 10, 2011 to explain why you want to attend and should get the scholarship.

Winners will be notified via email and I’ll post an update at the top of this post on June 13, 2011.

One more thing: people already registered can also participate.

  1. Budget restrictions have kept me from recent conferences, a web content editor for ten years, and it’s where one always learns so much/networks. Pick me, pick me!

We are about to launch a University wide redesign after nearly 2 years, and a lot of hard work. But, I realize that the harder job is still ahead; keeping the site fresh, measuring and fixing what’s working and what’s not, creating an informed mobile experience and telling our story — and for that I need the help of experts at HigherEdWeb!

  3. I’m a young professional just getting my feet wet in the higher education world, and one of my first large projects is to oversee a complete web redesign. My education is in online media, but I’d love the chance to learn from top professionals in the industry and get introduced to the higher ed web community.

This conference comes at a perfect time since I’m losing my assistant who handles the lion’s share of our web and social media efforts. At the same time, I’m being asked to do more with technology and online communities, and I would never be able to sell the idea of going to a conference without the “scholarship!”

  6. I’m a communications/public relations professional, but have been spending more and more of my time working on web projects. I believe I could use more training in website content and organization to apply to our university’s effort to redesign all academic websites.

I love the web, love higher ed, and love people; I love Little Rock, love professional development, and love free money! Please give me a little drink of your loving cup!
