Portal 2008 at Gettysburg College: Mark your calendar and submit a proposal

I meant to write about this conference earlier this month, but things have really been crazy.

The Portal 2008 Conference will take place at Gettysburg College on June 3-6, 2008.

And, this year it’s all going to be about measurement and assessment as explained in the official announcement about the conference:

While very few documented assessments of portals have taken place, we wanted to focus the conference on coming up with ways to measure and assess the effectiveness of the portal. It is becoming more important for resources to be justified, so sharing ways in which portals can be assessed and measured will position institutions to be able to demonstrate the value of portals.

I’m sure some ROI-oriented readers of this blog (or their colleagues from IT) will have great case studies to share. If you do, you should consider submitting a proposal to present. The original deadline of the call for proposals has been extended to February 15, 2008.

You can submit your proposal via an online form.

Want an extra reason to submit a proposal?

Well, if you go to Gettysburg College in June, you could become one of the lucky 2 collegewebeditor.com guest bloggers to get his/her conference fee waived.

The organizers of Portal 2008 would love to get some live blogging action this year, and they will give away a conference free pass (a $100 value) to 2 readers of this blog who agree to guest blog the conference. I’ll provide more details when the conference program is announced.
